21 Day Fast

Cindy Arora January 10, 2023

Do you have a prayer corner, with candles and ambiance? My friend has an awesome one. She set-up her home office as a small prayer chapel. A beautifully ornate cross is centered on her bookshelf. She has soft lighting, worship music and colorful pillows. A sense of peace fills your soul as you enter her office.

Up until last week, my “prayer corner” was my rocking chair. I was inspired to create my little prayer corner in the photo above from a gift.

My church begins every new year with a 21 day fast. This year I felt called to join the fast. That first Sunday, as we were making our commitment to fast, the gentleman (Phil) seated next to me, gave me a gift. He had made the little cardboard stand; he gave me it and the battery-powered tea light.

I felt so honored to get Phil’s gift that I have set-up a prayer corner in my house for the first time. It is not as elaborate as my girlfriend’s, but it still fills my heart with joy.

To be more precise, the joy comes from God’s presence. I’ve spent every morning in my prayer corner basking in His deep and abiding presence. I’ve found such peace and joy there. I have embraced God’s love with all my heart and soul, He has free rein in my life. Through my intimate times of prayer, I’m feeling closer to God than ever. His love and presence have strengthened and empowered me for whatever this new year brings.

Rather than counting the days until this fast ends, I am wondering how to maintain this throughout the year. I long for this peace and joy and empowerment every day of my life!

The farm workers were thrilled to be gifted Bibles in the local language. They started . . .
